Summer Game Fest 2026: All the news from gaming’s busiest week

Get ready for some gaming news. It’s officially June, which means splashy new events from PlayStation, Xbox, and gaming hype man Geoff Keighley, as well as a bunch of smaller events with hidden gems.

PlayStation kicked things off with a big event that featured a new look at Wolverine ahead of its September launch, a September release date announcement for Control Resonant, and an extended reveal of a brand new God of War title. The show was mostly about premium single-player games — a statement from PlayStation that it’s getting back to what it’s good at.

At Summer Game Fest Live on Friday, the biggest news was Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final game in the FFVII Remake trilogy. But we also got announcements of a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake, a January 15th release date — and a Tupac casting announcement — for RGG Studio’s Stranger Than Heaven, and new Cuphead titles from Studio MDHR.

Xbox’s big show is still to come on Sunday at 1PM ET. But so far, one of the biggest storylines of the show has been everyone avoiding Grand Theft Auto VI’s November 19th release date, which is warping the release calendar. And this year’s events are taking place at a difficult time for the industry. The prices of consoles and gaming hardware have skyrocketed, with all of the three major console players announcing price hikes and PC handheld makers jacking up hardware costs as well.

We’ll be tracking the biggest news of the June gaming events season right here.
